Chapter 5 Reflection

Administrative software is the focus in Chapter 5. It breaks down the types of software and the costs of these types of software. The chapter then changes its view to productivity software. The chapter lists the types and explains their features and uses in the classroom. The productivity software includes word processing, electronic spreadsheets, database management, and presentation software. The chapter ends with talking about management software for the classroom, school, and portfolio assessments.

I never knew the difference between freeware and shareware. After reading this chapter however, I found out that freeware allows users to access the program without having to pay any amount of money for the service. Shareware on the other hand is software that may require you to pay a small fee for using the program or may have an honor system in which the user is supposed to pay if they like the program. Learning about the features of the productivity software was also quite useful to me even though I already felt comfortable with the programs.
